Week 2
When I introduced the “Duh” and “Dumb” Starts categories for the first time last week, I had a sneaking suspicion in the back of my mind that it would make me look like an idiot. You know, that little tickle, that little itch, that is trying to tell you that you’re being a dumbass and what you’re doing is going to backfire and show everyone else that too. Well, that’s what I got when I typed “Duh” last week.
Get this: My three Duh Starts averaged 4.1 PPR, the 3 Deep Starts averaged 7.5 PPR, and the Dumb Starts had a beautiful 10.2 PPR average. Because of course, my confidence in a player is inversely proportional to the odds they will blow up and do nothing.
Another interesting statistic is that every time Austin Seferian-Jenkins makes it onto one of my Deep Start lists, going back to last year as well, he always scores a touchdown…
Which is immediately reversed by penalty or review. Because of course.
Three appearances on my article. Three touchdowns. Three reversals. I’m so sorry, Austin.
Week 2 Starts
Please remember that despite the limited descriptions and reasons stated below and the joking attitude they are maybe given in, I have put a good amount of thought and research into these players.
Duh Starts
Corey Grant, RB Jax vs NE
ESPN 1% | Yahoo 1%
*This is entirely dependent on Fournette not playing.* Jacksonville just brought up a practice squad RB. Doesn’t sound good for Fournette.
Geronimo Allison, WR GB vs Min
ESPN 24% | Yahoo 31%
Duh
Dante Pettis, WR SF vs Det
ESPN 4% | Yahoo 14%
With Goodwin out and Garcon an injury waiting to happen, this is a guy you want on your team, even if he’s on your bench.
Deep Starts
Jonnu Smith, TE Ten vs Hou
ESPN 5% | Yahoo 20%
Delanie Walker is out.
Corey Clement, RB Phi @ TBB
ESPN 19% | Yahoo 20%
Still not buying Ajayi. He’s not a receiving back and with Sproles out it leaves the path clear for Clement.
Mike Wallace, WR Phi @ TBB
ESPN 21% | Yahoo 7%
Last week was not a good matchup and even though he didn’t get the completions, Wallace did have the most air yards among Eagle receivers.
Dumb Starts
Jacquizz Rodgers, RB TBB vs Phi
ESPN 1% | Yahoo 1%
His name isn’t Ronald Jones and he can catch the ball.
Travis Benjamin, WR LAC @ Buf
ESPN 4% | Yahoo 16%
Tons of air yards in week 1 with a couple dropped passes. Travis almost had a huge week 1.
Probably means Tyrell will go off this week.
